treasury notes

hi,

if i buy treasury notes from the treasury at treasury direct will i get the full value back if i hold them to term. i find i cannot truly understand notes.

Uh, its pretty simple. These are bonds issued by the feddle gubmint. You either buy them at a discount to par and get par when they mature (short term notes) or you buy them when issued and they pay a coupon every 6 months and par at maturity.
