About a week and a half ago, my wife, adult daughter and I were relaxing with a drink on a terrace in Costa Rica overlooking the Pacific Ocean - warm breezes, a beautiful sunset, etc. At a nearby table were two (slightly loud) couples, one from the US and one from Canada. They were comparing notes on vacation time in their respective countries. The Canadian said that in his province (Saskatchewan) everyone got at least 3 weeks vacation. The American said that two weeks was the norm in the US. The Canadian looked over at our table and said, "I can't tell if that guy is a Canuck or a Yank; wonder how much vacation he gets?" The American finally asked, "How much vacation do you get a year?" I said, "52 weeks," held up my drink to toast him but didn't hear much from either of them after that.
