The company I work for has offered a retirement package which I'd love to take, but I'm too young to qualify for their retiree health and dental insurance which costs about $2200 per year for a couple (I'm single so it should be less for me). I've checked the major national insurers like Aetna, CIGNA, AARP, Goldenrule, Unityhealth, UnitedHealthOne, but none of them cover NY. Most of them point to ehealthinsurance.com which only has GHI for $5300. I also don't qualify for any of the NY State plans. Excellus or MVP would cost $14,000 to $19,000 per year so those are out too. I can't leave the state since I help out my elderly parents. Does anyone have any other ideas, or should I give up my dream of early retirement?
