EvoNO. Cardio Miracle

I ran in to an old acquaintance at the gym. He looked like the guy in that TV add that shows a guy getting more muscular and fitter as he moves into his 60s. When I mentioned this he said yes, he'd lost over 50 pounds and felt better than he had in decades and it was due to...wait for it...EvoNO, cardio Miracle, Nitric Oxide therapy. Of course, he was now a representative of a company promoting this stuff and started talking my ear off with the arginine-nitric oxide pathway, Nobel prize winner Louis Ignarro on the importance of nitric oxide to the cardio system, yada yada yada...

I don't usually look into stuff like this, but I'm in need of losing a lot of weight, bringing down HDL, many of the things he has done. And he looked amazingly better than the last time I'd seen him. So I let him give me the info.

Has anyone here ever had experience with this? I searched the web, but mostly just came up with sales for this, not critical reviews.

Seems very unlikely that this alone would give you any long term benefits. Maybe combined with a good cardio program, but you might get the same benefits from the cardio program alone. The guy sounds like a snake oil salesman. Maybe the snake oil is actually good, but maybe not. I'd want to run it by my doc first. Some may dismiss it out of hand, which is not good, but at least if something happens to you because you take it anyway, at least they'll know of a possible cause. From a quick glance of the web, I see that it is a toxic compound, but can have some cardio benefits. The toxic part would make me want to know a whole lot more before taking any, and not from a guy who would profit by me taking it.

My opinion is that a lot of people look for a silver bullet or a magic bean for health. Mostly it's a matter of doing the work to exercise more and better, and to eat less and better.

Nitric Oxide or Nitrous Oxide I think he's doing too much of one of these! They probably provide the same "benefit". Seriously if someone developed a miracle cure would they sell it via salesman? Someone taught me recently the Easter bunny isn't real either.

Wait a minute...he was at the gym, right? Was he working out? Gee, just like everybody else who's in decent shape has to do....

Viagra and other impotence medications work due to their action on the nitric oxide pathway. One cause of impotence is unhealthy and aged arteries that feed blood to the sexual organs. Viagra works by influencing enzymes in the nitric oxide pathway, causing a cascade of enzymatic reactions that enhance nitric oxide, causing more blood flow and better erections.

Quite a bit cheaper than Viagra. Though I think my honey might shoot me if I went V on her.

Ha

Oh, you have got to be kidding.

Nitric Oxide, AKA Nitrogen monoxide, (NO) is a free radical. Yes, it is important biologically. In us meatbags, it's a cardiovascular signalling molecule. It has a half-life of a few seconds in the bloodstream. In water, it reacts with water and dissolved oxygen to form nitrous acid.

Our bodies synthesize it as needed, and use it for signalling within a single cell or between adjacent cells. It doesn't last long enough to move beyond that.

There are chemicals that NO signalling, contributing to its production directly or indirectly. Viagra is one such chemical.

Directly purchasing Nitrogen Oxide supplements is an efficient mechanism for enhancing the transfer of monetary units between social primates.

Ingesting Nitric Oxide, who knows? Ingesting Nitric Acid, don't do it.

Losing the 50 lbs is probably more important than the NO.

+1.

No experience with this, sorry. And I know zip about biochemistry, so everything sounds like a wild claim to me.

I am finally getting steady weight loss by tracking calories in a little log every day when I eat (estimating amounts, looking up calorie content and running a subtotal every time on the fly--it slows me down), with a target of 1500/day and walking an hour every day. Minimizing high-calorie foods (cheese, fatty meats, butter, etc.) and replacing them with fruits and veggies has been successful. For me, the discipline of accurate accounting and walking every day without fail has been necessary. I started out losing 5 lbs/week but am down to 2 lbs/week at three months in (getting slack).

Assuming you meant LDL. As for the "therapy" if it was that effective it would be well known, probably be on every news channel. If it sounds too good to be true...

Not being snarky here but are you for real with this?

Th original post was barely a month ago. How long have you been taking it?

How long before you started talking it and the onset and feel-goodness?

Are you over or under age 55?
