I have read and heard about getting on a group health plan through an association of some type.

Has anyone ever known of an organization or club that insures offer insurance to their members?

Yes. A lot are scams or they're in trouble with the AG of several states. Be wary.

Sam's club and Costco both have some sort of insurance. I looked into it a few years a go, but decided to stay with the insurance I had as an employee.

AARP has health insurance available for members through UnitedHealth Care. But it's not a HSA eligible policy. That's all I know.

According to their site, Costco's health insurance for small businesses is only offered in 5 western states (WA, OR, CA, HI, NV)
Their individual and family health insurance plan, by PacifiCare/United Healthcare, is only offered in CA.
