These darn scales of mine are a little on the flaky side. First time I stepped on them it read 182. Didn't think that was right so weighed 3 more times and came in at 180. So I will go with that. Probably need to buy the digital kind.:(

You need to do what I did - by the lying kind ;)

Today came in at 4/10ths of a lb less than two weeks ago (missed last week's weigh-in). Charted my weight loss today and it's been a remarkably steady decline since I started WW six months ago. I'm pleased so far, down two dress sizes and two pants sizes. Onward!

Keep on doing what you are doing, that is great progress.

DW went shopping and came back with a couple of dresses for our long vacation in England. She was delighted to find that she had gone down another dress size. She said to me "guess what size these dresses are?" That is worse than saying "does this make my bum look big?" - at least that is a yes/no option and I already know the answer

She is now a 2 P and has never ever been that small. So, a combination of weight loss (from 136 to 116) and lots of exercise, plus the fact that clothes makers have been making the dress sizes larger over the years has really improved things.

Welcome to the thread :greetings10:

Looks like you have been making great progress this year already - close to 3 lbs / month

Urchina, great to have smaller sizes in your closets! Alan, were you stealing all the french fries from Mrs. Alan when you two went out to lunch in Colorado :) ? I imagine she feels very healthy and I presume at 116 lbs. she is not too much on the tall side.

Welcome, BTravlin.

Great Weight Watchers meeting today. I took some flowers to the leader who hit her 10 year WW anniversary this week; she is funny and charming and keeps us coming back. And 77 lbs. lighter than she was 10 years ago, so very inspirational too.

Goal beginning 4/22: -25 lbs.
4/29, week 1, -4.6 lbs.: -4.6 lbs. total
5/6, week 2, -2.6 lbs: -7.2 lbs. total
5/13, week 3, -3.2 lbs.: -10.4 lbs. total
5/20, week 4, -1.6 lbs.: -12 lbs. total
5/27, week 5, -1 lb.: -13 lbs. total
6/3, week 6, -1.6 lbs.: -14.6 lbs. total

Looks like you are continuing to lose weight steadily as well - well done.

DW is 5' 1" and she is my inspiration in this whole weight loss / get fit thing. She started well before I did and has not only lost all that weight but really toned up with all the exercise. It all started about 9 years ago when she had a treadmill stress test as part of her work's health program and they had to stop very early because her heart rate and blood pressure shot off the scale. She has certainly completely reversed that initial bad result as well as cholesterol and triglycerides etc.

Thanks for the welcome. My wife was also my inspiration for losing some weight and getting healthier. That, and the fact that bending over to tie my shoes was getting uncomfortable. She had her gallbladder removed several years ago and took that as a cue to improve her diet and fitness. She is 5'3" and weighs 128. Anyway, I do the elliptical for about 15 minutes at a fast pace every morning and my wife and I walk once around the neighborhood each evening, about a 2.5 mile circuit. Losing the weight would be a lot easier if we didn't have all the goodies around for the three kids. Then again, better will power on my part couldn't hurt either.

That's so funny, Alan and BTrav, because when I told DH six weeks ago that I was going back to Weight Watchers, he immediately said, "Great! Because I really want to eat healthy and get in shape." What we DWs do for you guys :)

It helps to have a little more to lose--I think it's easier to shed these lbs. than when you're closer to where you want to be. Good weigh-in again for me this week:

6/10, week 7, -2.4 lbs.: -17 lbs. total

Does anybody else hit these plateaus where you get stuck and it's hard to break out of? I went from 198 to 191-189 fairly easily but got stuck there for awhile and now I'm range bound between 181-184.

Yes - I have been on a plateau for about a year. But now I'm starting to see results. I've lost about 1.6 lbs in the last 4 months

I went from 200 to 190 last fall. This year, my weight has been between 189 and 195. Whenever I get down to 189, it goes up and when it reaches 195, it goes down. My goal is 180. Been adding exercise lately so hopefully I can pass the 189 barrier.

Goal: 176

Jan, '10: 198
6/3: 184
6/9: 183
6/16: 183.5

Will miss next week's weigh-in as I'll be on vacation and out of comm range. The following week could be ugly.
