Old amusement parks

Why are there so many in PA?
I guess Kennywood is still going strong.

I don't know the answer to the question of why so many in PA. I used to go to the defunct West View Park all the time on a summer's evening with my Dad and sister to ride the rollercoasters. I didn't see White Swan Park listed(a former kiddie park near the Pittsburgh airport). Kennywood is indeed still going strong. I have not been there for 10 years, since my son graduated from high school. Kennywood and Idlewild(in Ligonier) are now owned by a Spanish company. I live quite near Idlewild and went with a friend last year to walk around and partake of a few rides and just stroll around and bask in the atmosphere of a bygone era. It is a very charming park along the Lincoln Highway, known more for it's old fashioned appeal and Storybook Forest than thrill rides.
