weatherproofing a sign

I have one of those stick corrugated plastic signs similar to those For Sale signs you see stuck in the ground.

What would be a good way to weatherproof it?

I know the plastic itself is suppose to be weatherproof but I have LED lights taped to them that are not weatherproof.

So you want to weatherproof the LEDs, not the sign?

Need more information - some LED strips are weatherproof.

They currently are affixed to the sign with double-sided tape.
I want to put this sign outside.

That would work for awhile, until the bag tears. Leave the bag open at the bottom so the inevitable water and condensation can drain out. The bag will eventually get wet inside, have condensation, stick to the sign and make it hard to read, etc

Are the LEDs supposed to illuminate the face of the sign or are they just there to light up and draw attention to the sign? If it is the former, it would be best to put the lights (a simple flashlight in a glass or plastic jar to keep it dry)? somewhere in front of the sign (on the ground?) and point it at the sign's surface.

put the string of lights in a large clear plastic tube and seal the ends with silicone.

Will these lights plug in or run on batteries? If plug in then just buy a strip of lights for $10 that already weather proof, or use Christmas lights.

Need a LOT more info for any meaningful answer. Type of LED, size of sign, local weather, how long will this be used, power source, how big an investment make sense?

I think I will give the XL size of Ziploc Big Bags a try.
I will place the opening at the bottom as you suggested. It will be powered by an outdoor timer.

This was the type of light I was thinking of, have been putting these outside for over 10 years without an issue.
