Didn't see any comments on Process Explorer, but it's simple, and where I've found problems in the past. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
By connecting wireless computers directly to the router with cables, and then running process explorer, any problems with programs should show up.
When I do this, no problems. so when I disconnect one computer and the second (wireless) computer has problems connecting, I know it's a problem with the DHCP.
What is DHCP and How DHCP Works? (DHCP Fundamentals Explained)
Next the DNS... note the comment about theDNS cache:
HTG Explains: What is DNS?
Frankly, I don't understand all of this, but in my case, am guessing that it's because of my home network setup. wireless router with four wired connections.
Computer 1 Wired
Computer 2 Wired
Computer 3 Wireless
Roku 1 Wired
Roku 2 Wireless
Remote computer weather station Wireless
In addition to this I connect with tablets...
Now, one more thing... I use Plex, which is constantly updating, as are the Rokus.
I suspect that as different connections come and go, that the connection searches change... trying and discarding the cache(s)
Once the computers are connected, the Mbs speeds are ususally even... wired, at 30Mbs, and wireless at about 15 to 20 Mbs.
If I have not used a computer for a few days, I can expect MSIE and Windows updates, which usually take three to 5 minutes to complete. I have used "Notify Me" for other updates on all programs.
Am not suggesting solutions, as most of this is still confusing to me. Am certainly not a geek.

One thing to add. By Googling "resolving host problem" you'll come up with more than a million hits. The first several sites, cover Google Chrome, but some of the later sites explain other solutions. A few months ago, I had such a problem with this, that I ended up wiping one laptop clean and installing XP... the only system I had rights to. This solved the problem, but I still have no idea what caused it in the first place.
Have come to the conclusion:
"There are some things we are not given to know."
