Had to cut my hair today so I went to the closet, took out the Flowbee and my vacuum cleaner and 10 minutes later I was done, started putting the Flowbee away and on the bottom of the box was the receipt for $39.99 dated 06/1997, got me thinking how much I’ve saved in that time, figured a conservative $10 per cut 6 times a year times 21 years came out to a savings of $1,260

OMG, we had one of those. DH did the kids hair until they became aware of the opposite sex. No pun intended.

I had to Google Flowbee. Interesting.

I recall the days when DF would line up his three sons on the carport and give us all crew cuts with his clippers, covering us with a sheet. The only time I went to a barber before I was 10 was once when I was in a wedding at age six.

$10 per cut? In my part of the world, that's very inexpensive!

My wife cuts my hair these days. Or at least what is left of my hair.

I figure I have saved a lot more than $1260. Not to mention how much I save on shampoo and combs.

Not trying to impress anyone but myself and the Flowbee has impressed me enough to buy another when this one dies.

That's what I've been paying for the last 16 years, including tip. The guy charges $8 and hasn't raised his price since we moved here.

Of course, this is West Virginia, not southern CA.

I liked the commercial where they showed like an 18" attachment with the hair going up the tube to be cut. Cool!

DW cuts my hair and has for 25 years. Saved tons.

I enjoy my regular haircut. I put it in there on the lunch & errands run. Have a sit and close my eyes and relax.

I’m due for a cut, which I get about every 3 to 4 weeks. Thirteen bucks plus five for tip. If I had a Flowbee I would use it. I see that they’re selling for $140 on Amazon.

Zip zip every other day. My head is as smooth as a baby’s behind. I change the blade once a month for about $2.

I'm a little spendy in this area.
Haircut, beard trim, and shampoo runs about $28. Add the beer while I get settled in and I'm at $32 before tip. I do go long between cuts (6 weeks) to help defray costs.

Afterwards, I feel so good, I might have another grog or a glass of wine before heading home. Getting my haircut? Expensive. Having my barbershop inside of a pub? Priceless!

40 years the gal has cut my hair. Guess she likes the way it looks because she never complains it looks bad. She did burst into tears one Halloween when I shaved my moustache and had a woman barber in a shop color my hair mostly temporary black and braid it into a Manchu queue. Never did that again. I do have to lop gal's hair off in a straight line every now and again, which she normally fixes later. No idea on savings - aren't haircuts like $2?

Good for you 97, saving money. I cut my own hair using standard electric clippers. About once/month with number 5 clip all over, that's 5/8's of an inch for those not familiar with the terminology. My wife will trim the back where I can't see to get the bottom of the hair line. I just do it outside and let the clipped hair fall. Saves a lot of money vs barber or Supercuts.


Just wish I could get my wife to find a lower cost option than the hair salon and stylist. That offsets my savings for sure!

About a year ago I bought Wahl clippers with the attachments. It paid for itself in the first month. Wish I would have done it sooner.

Another 20-year Flowbee fan here. Only additional expense over the years was a set of replacement blades a few years ago, and the quick shot of WD-40 before each use. Consistent and perfect every time.

Saves so much time, money, not having to deal with silly/unpleasant chit chat, and the one thing which totally disgusts me - the stylist/barber who wreaks from their last cigarette break.
