I haven't changed anything but now I get a popup that says I can't block ads. I have the same browser and same ublock I have always had. Not to mention at least one video I watched had an ad embedded.

I x out and then I watch the video. I wasn't getting this 2 weeks ago so not sure what made it start up. Not sure what it wants me to do because any other site that bitches about my lack of ads I don't go back to. But so far it still works it is just a nag.

Edited to add I am not logged into my google account to watch this. I don't "subscribe to" anyone.

I use adblock plus and just watched a couple of music videos with no change or issue.

I use ublock too and have noticed a big increase of that message asking me to turn off ublock. So far, I've waited a bit then click on the x close the pop up. The the video seems to play. Won't be surprised if before long, that strategy won't work.

Pick your poison. Ads or get asked to remove ad blocker

IDK really how to remove the adblocker for just one site unless it actually works to click whatever they said. If it requires more configuration I'd be confused.

no problems here. adblock plus and ghostery.

Reports are the popups are coming in waves to YouTube registered users. Do note that it seems to impact those who have signed into YouTube (for subscribing, commenting, etc.).

If you are viewing videos anonymously, many have stated the popups and warnings don't occur. Same goes for browsing in private mode, if your browser has such a feature.

Some Brave users mentioned that initially they were seeing the warnings, but the Brave developers had adjusted. Whether that holds remains to be seen.

Apparently some users have received the popups one too many times, and as a result have had their YouTube account closed, with no ability to re-open the account under the same email address.

Same here, no issues. Most of the time I'm not logged into my Google account and it seems to make no difference. But if it shows up I have had my lifetime fill of ads and if they're going to do that nonsense I'll just be gone elsewhere.

Yeah I don't log into google and am not registered with you tube.

I'll keep adblock and ghostery in mind if I need it. I don't use it that much that I could not do without but sometimes nice to see what others are sending me to check out. I'm on FF mostly I don't use chrome if I can help it. Just a couple sites that don't seem to load well otherwise get it. I should download brave for those.

I have AdBlock Plus AND Trend Micro adblocker AND an app that stops YouTube from auto-playing. MOST of the time, it works. I watch a lot of old films. "Free with Ads." But I don't have to suffer through any ads. I also have a thing for YouTube that calls itself a "Sponsor Blocker."

The warning started popping up for me a couple days ago. When it happens I click on "Report issue" at the bottom then close the next popup. After that I can play the video with my adblocker enabled.

I decided to turn off blocking for youtube while using ublock origin. Viewed several videos. So far, no ads.

Well, that didn't take long. Now I get the adblock warning despite me having turned it off in ublock origin.

I just got permanently blocked when watching YouTube on my Chromebook. That's fine. I can still watch videos on my tv's app for YouTube but of course ads are included.

Permanently blocked? Were you using a YouTube account that is now locked?

I first got the warning and X'd it out to continue, soon it completely blocked me. I searched how to remove ad blocker from Brave browser, it then let me watch with ad's.

But I noticed the ads now show up much more frequently. I am sure soon it will be intolerable and many will choose to purchase premium (or is it called Prime) service.

Interesting, thanks for the heads-up. I haven't seen it yet and use AdBlock. But then again, I rarely use YouTube, and if I had to sit through commercials I'd use it even less.

No. I tried disabling AdBlock just for YT but then I got popups on all sites. So it's permanent as far as I'm concerned as I'm not unblocking for all sites. When I was on Windows I could disable just for one site but not working the same on my Chromebook.

Since at least for now youtube is still viewable without interruption if in private mode, I installed a browser extension called Private Favorites. I put youtube as a favorite so I can use to look at videos.

Private Favorites is not a perfect solution. But I'm not going to uninstall my adblocker just to placate youtube.

What I have noticed with some providers that demand subscriptions to eliminate ads, is that they have gone from not allowing viewing to a "Continue With Adblocker." Option.

I think they were losing too many viewers as a result of the Adblocker prohibition. Just an observation, I could be wrong.

The Brave browser seems like it is able to kill the ads without any addons.

Just right click on the YouTube video in Windows Edge and select "Open Link in Private Window"

Works great no adds, no blocks.
