Hello admins,

I was looking through the User CP for an option to get rid of the reference to dryer sheets that appears under my username (recycles dryer sheets). I couldn't find an option to disable it.

Is there such an option?

If not, maybe the forum should consider eliminating that whole dryer sheet theme. I do understand that it refers to the frugality practiced by many here, but it really lacks appeal for many others.

Meh. Come back when you have logged a few thousand posts.

You mean these things? They come in original, lavender, and the new sense of humor scent.

I'll have to check out that new scent next time I'm at the store. :D:D

Ummm... No thanks.

...humor scent.
Yep. Maybe the first 10,000 times it could be considered funny, but after several years of the same old "joke" day in, day out, I can imagine what the scent is like...

Maybe our admins could make it optional. Those who are entertained by it could keep it and those who would rather choose something else could do so?

We feel terrible about this. Really, we do.

How ironic that someone on my "Ignore Poster" list objects to one of the board's core personality characteristics.

A lot of time, effort, and discussion went into that flag, and we had to heap a lot of [-]abuse[/-] persuasion on the new administration to keep the status quo. So those who don't like it are free to go start their own discussion boards.

Oh, wait, there's an even easier option-- go over to Greaney's board. That board hasn't had a new post for at least a month, so I'm sure they don't care what happens.

Simple answer: NO.

By the way, you were on my 'ignore' list from 2 years ago and I had to take you off to quote your silly request. I think that says a lot.

Oh, and Hi Everyone! See you in a couple of years or the next time some nimnol on my ignore list thinks we ought to do away with one of the foundational building blocks of early retirement.

By the way, I still tear my dryer sheets in half and if my wife drops a used one on the floor of the closet I pick it up and throw it back in the dryer.

So get used to it, limited contribution, quickly ignored person!

My goodness.

Mere words fail to express the significance of this provocation. I'm closer to using an emoticon than I've ever been.

Funny that the only two people on my ignore list are responding to this thread. Usually means that I'm onto something. :)

While we're doing away with dryers sheets, let's change that ugly sounding "FIRE" acronym to something less jarring, ban any reference to b@con, and find someone willing to post a suggestion so execrable it will lure CFB back on the forum.

Wait, we already did that last one...

Wow it's good to hear from you!

And another thing:
- Why does it say "Early Retirement Forums"? Clearly the correct word is "Fora"
- And why does the board permit postings with misspelled words? Clearly the software could be set to delete any incoming post that appears to have a typo. Yes, we'd lose some defective posts, but that's a small price for perfection.
- Nice to hear from you, CFB! (Place emoticon here).

Can we still discuss kayaks at appropriate points?

CFB back, next we'll have pics of bunnies with pancakes on their heads?

Nords! Step away from that emoticon button!

Somehow I managed to survive the dryer sheet phase. And DW and I don't even use them. Cut in half, recycled, or otherwise.

Saves the expense, you know.

Heh heh heh... You'll never know who is lurking. As they say, you can take a guy away from dryer sheets, but you cannot take dryer sheets out of him. One must know the right button to push.

And by the way, here's some extra emoticons to cause anguish to people with emoticon phobia. :D:LOL::whistle::angel::cool:

Any sighting of Uncle Mick recently? If I keep infringing on his trade mark, will he stop lurking? Heh heh heh...

Wow, CFB is a lurker! Sure have missed your humor and wisdom on this board. For Pete's sake, speak up now and again. Don't wait for someone proposing to do away with all references to bacon to post again!
