shameless ask for praise for walking

What a great healthy walk you were able to accomplish! I try to walk 10,000 steps per day which is not that easy to do without making it a priority. Here is some advice I try to follow daily: Your feelings never have the right to determine your identity; speak the truth to yourself.

    Blow that Dough 2024

Pretty close to purchasing my first truck (a used 2022 Honda Ridge line, not considered a truck by many but fine enough for me) and signing up for a trip for 2 w/my bride of 41 years to Greece traveling there in late May. That's a lot$$ for us- Always enjoyed reading RobbieB come back!!

    Too old to drive

Thanks for sharing your story. In your place I would be persistent to retain my license. They are not playing fair with you especially based on your Dr.'s reports. Is there another DMV office you can go to for testing? We have a few options in our city.

Would you repair a 2011 Toyota Avalon with $5000 damage & 190,000 miles??

I was thinking about driving it 2-3 more years hoping prices might come down; but lately thinking prices may never drop to pre-covid $$. (As an example, I was waiting for lumber prices to drop in order to build a new deck. But got tired of waiting and went ahead to build the 30' x 16' deck last...

Would you repair a 2011 Toyota Avalon with $5000 damage & 190,000 miles??

Here is the photo of the damage: I'm hoping the photo of the damage appears; I found it difficult to figure out how to attach a photo. The rear door has minor scuffing and well as the front bumper cover which the estimate shows it would be replaced. The door opens and closes OK and that is...

Would you repair a 2011 Toyota Avalon with $5000 damage & 190,000 miles??

Our car was side swiped along drivers side with somewhat minimal damage. It runs just fine. Insurance will pay us about $4500 for damage, has 190,000 miles on it. Approx. retail value repaired is between $7000 to $9000. Fix it Pros & Cons -it is too "new" to just write it off -mechanically...

RobbieB haven't seen you around for awhile

Here's a funny thing: I have read lots of comments for years from Robbie B and many of you but you probably don't know me because I read, learn, and (take in the pearls) but post - not so much! Thanks for all of the insight over the years. For you mathematicians I've averaged about 5 posts/year

We are entering a "Golden Period" for fixed income investing

I confess I've only read some of these posts! I currently am still in a bond index fund at Fidelity (my bad ... I guess). Would you sell now and purchase treasuries or a fixed bond this late in the game?? I'd be happy earning 4% these days.

Anyone had their Social security deposit date changed??

The bank we use is Affinity Plus Federal credit union. I will check with them first to see if they deposit it early. It is actually coming 6 days earlier than is used to. I am thankful it arrives every month! I know this may sound silly but I don't want a surprise to pay interest for getting it...

Anyone had their Social security deposit date changed??

For about 5 years both of our SS direct deposits has been deposited on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesday of the month according to our birthdays. This is still the correct deposit dates according to the 2022 SS calendar. But about a month ago the money started to show up on the 1st Friday and 2nd...

    Get a pool?

We purchased a home a few years ago with an above ground pool. Our (12) grandkids are all under 11 years of age and are thrilled to swim in our pool. Several of them came over 1 to 2 times per week to swim and splash. With that said: -maintenance is work, takes time, $ & is not for those who...
