BALANCED FUND vs INTEREST INCOME FUND? Where to park $100k for the next 2 years?

Really makes the most sense for holding funds short-term. Wonder why no one else made this suggestion earlier. For the record, I'll be doing just this. Selling a home soon, will be heading to an adult community. Can't risk the asset, so T-Bills (or equivalent) it is. Rich

My son wants to me to help pay for his very expensive wedding? How much?

Married to the same lady 53 years. Got hitched in my parents' backyard, food catered. Cost was, from memory, under $500 bucks. $50K for a wedding is an entitled, showy, frankly obnoxious indulgence. Otherwise I'm fine with it... Stick to your guns and don't match her parents. Rich

    The Electric Vehicle Thread

Here's a really good book on EVs: https://www.amazon.com/Electric-Vehicles-What-About-Them/dp/B08QS544K3/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=electric+vehicles+what+about+them&qid=1629027590&sr=8-1

    The Electric Vehicle Thread

EVSE outlet in AZ garage. $160 dollars by local electrician. Tesla model Y. Close up of NEMA 14-50 outlet. Carport NEMA 14-50 outlet at our Cape Cod carport. $1,100 dollars, but it was a long run from the home's electrical box. Chevy Bolt in photo. Rich

How do you charge an electric car in rural area

Fast charging EVs on the road is improving at a rapid rate. Below is an already out of date display of fast chargers for non-Tesla vehicles. Tesla "Superchargers" on the East Coast.

How do you charge an electric car in rural area

For reasons I don't understand our Tesla Model Y is $100 less per year than our 2019 Chevy Bolt EV (Tucson AZ area). Identical coverage. Not a clue why that is. Rich

How do you charge an electric car in rural area

My Chevy Bolt's first major maintenance is scheduled for 150,000 miles (flush out and change the traction battery cooling/heating fluid). Recommends a change of brake fluid as well. There is very little "maintenance" which needs to be done to an EV. Jay Leno, in a recent interview stated he...

How do you charge an electric car in rural area

Similar situation here. We own two EVs (Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model Y). We charge at home, unless on a road trip. We drove our Bolt (had to reposition the car) from Cape Cod to south of Tucson back in October, 2,740 miles. In so doing we came to appreciate the robust EV charging infrastructure...

How do you charge an electric car in rural area

I read the entire thread. I don't own a Tesla (I do own a Chevy Bolt, another EV), and "think" that each Tesla comes with not only a charging head (the part you put in the Tesla to charge the car up), but adapters for a wide combination of electrical outlets (there are lots of variations!!)...

All electric vehicle with low range. Are you able to find charging stations?

I own a Chevy Bolt (all electric car). I think you might be better off finding a used EV that has longer range, such as a Nissan Leaf. The problem with your proposed 80 mile BMW is, you really shouldn't use more than about 80% of the battery in you car, in order to ensure battery longevity...

What to do with some extra money...

This thread had me thinking about CDs. Looked into Vanguard CDs. Much to my surprise, the one year CD pays 2.25%, while the 3, 6 and 9 month CDs pay more! 2.3% / 2.4% / 2.4% respectively. Rich

    Thoughts on TESLA

I plan on buying an EV come late Spring of 2019, either a Chevy Bolt or a Nissan Leaf (60kW hr battery model). I'm under no illusion in regard cold weather degradation of range of an EV. This vehicle will be used on Cape Cod, from May through October. I would be reluctant to purchase an EV, as...
