    ink efficient printers??

I have a Canon laser printer (I can get cheap toner on Amazon and through other vendors), which will eventually get replaced with a Brother. I also have an Epson multifunction inkjet, which I use for occasional color printing. I typically go through an ink set every 1-2 years on the Epson.

Anyone have experience with modern Mini Computers?

I've been using a laptop plugged into a larger monitor with a wireless keyboard and mouse since 2016. Since I still use it about eight hours a day on weekdays, I decided to upgrade to a model which is compatible with Windows 11. I'm still working through the irritations of Windows 11 a few weeks...

Can Your Car Navigation GPS or App Block Out Certain Areas?

Big fan of Waze, it has saved my butt multiple times, although occasionally you will get stuck in a traffic jam it didn't know about or wasn't able to avoid.

Bob Brinker just called it quits! Marketimer is gone!

I never followed this guy, but as others have noted, it's a bit odd there isn't a successor, if he's built a successful business.

    Am I burnt out???

In my experience, a good one is not accepting new patients, and a bad one will completely turn you off to the idea of therapy.

Psychic numbing when you're close to winning the game

That actually sounds like an ideal way to go, if it coincides with when you planned to leave anyway, since you might get a severance package and would also be eligible for unemployment. Also, it could help sidestep any awkward questions from third parties whom you might not want to know you...

Psychic numbing when you're close to winning the game

I was listening to the excellent Hidden Brain podcast recently, and there was an episode which discussed the phenomenon of psychic numbing--basically, if a single person dies, we often consider it tragedy, but if there is a large-scale humanitarian disaster, we often express a lower degree of...

    Restaurants in Trouble

My regular pub says they are slammed on Friday and Saturday nights. I get carryout sometimes but dine in when I know there won't be many people there (dinner early in the week; lunchtime on a Saturday or Sunday). One time, I had the entire bar area to myself--not just the bar, but the entire...

$200K/ yr income, 58 yrs old and no retirement savings

If wife #4 gets all or most of the pension, what's wife #5 going to live on after he's gone? (Generally, when dividing a pension in divorce, there's some formula to basically "tie a knot" in it and divide what was earned during the marriage from what was earned afterwards, but this isn't always...

    Who changed it to 20%

Same here on the idea of a "minimum tip." Even if I get out of a place with a relatively low bill, the bartender or server has often spent as much time on me as they would have if I had a higher ticket. I'm a regular at a couple of places near my house, and maybe once every month or two...

Career not going nearly as well as investments anymore

Well, that makes me wonder what calculators are being censored! I'm slightly older and have about the same NW. It's not enough for me to retire. My plan is to be FI and have my house paid off by my mid 40s, but I'm not certain I will retire at that point, as there are a number of external...

Why is All Wheel Drive better on snowy and slushy roads?

I've had three AWD vehicles, and despite the alleged technical superiority of Subaru's system, can't say anything bad about Nissan's, GM's, or Audi's in terms of real world performance in snow. They all prevented me from getting stuck in slippery conditions, which is something that has happened...

    Yet ANOTHER Chicken Sandwich

I don't understand the love for Wendy's burgers... Their spicy chicken sandwich and chicken Caesar salad are both amazing. Not a fan of their burgers. I love a good, fancy burger from a sit-down restaurant, though.

    Yet ANOTHER Chicken Sandwich

Same here, love the chicken, but the long lines usually scare me off. They are popular enough that they need to buy the adjacent lot to build a second CFA next door. The "my pleasure" refrain comes across as fake. I've been told that the Aldi brand frozen chicken breast filets + brioche buns +...

Investing A Windfall When You're Already OK for FIRE

Hard to say until it actually happens. In theory, invest according to my existing allocations and plan on having a consummately higher standard of living.
