Should get ours sometime after next week. Florida is lowering the age to 60+ next Monday 3/15. Glad we're getting closer.

Did any of you regret early retirement or is anyone worried about leaving too early?

Let me think.................................Nope, no regrets. I quit at 58 and my husband left one year later at 56. It's now been 5 years. Best decision we ever made other than not trying to impress people we didn't know with money we didn't have........and made smart invests. :)

This is all market appreciation with no new funds since I'm retired. I'm an aggressive investor, with no bond exposure. I have one index fund (S&P fund) and a significant share of AAPL. I own both of these for the long term and do not trade them. I was up 29% in 2020.

    FEHB and Medicare Part A

Anyone here retire from Federal service and go on Medicare Part A with their FEHB benefits and decline Part B Medicare? Looking for the pros and cons of keeping our Federal Health Benefit health insurance instead of taking Part B. I do understand there will be a forever penalty if Part B isn't...

Retirement Check in I walked out the retirement door at 58 on 12/31/2015 with 2.43M in our portfolio. Husband retired at 56 in 12/31/2016. In Dec., the portfolio was at 5.2M. I never expected it. Maybe could have gone sooner but no one can predict the future.

Yes they do Audrey. I meant 2020 will be the last year for the subsidy as we will be able to get back on the Federal Health Care benefit. I just turned 62 so I have 8 years before the dreaded RMD's. Good on you for your husband having it in his tax sheltered account! Still I'm grateful and in...

Fidelity Zero Expense Ratio vs. VG Admiral funds

We moved all of our assets from Vanguard to Fidelity for the sake of simplicity. Fidelity has a decent cash management account, ITOT which is comparable to VTSAX and HSA accounts for both of us. It's much better having everything and managing from one firm. Very satisfied.

Using the Personal Capital tool. Tells me I'm up 35.95%. Have a significant holding in AAPL that I can't sell since I'm using the ACA Healthcare subsidy this year, along with some ITOT. 2020 will be the last year for ACA and the subsidy qualify limitation since we will be able to get back...

Between FIRE and 65 paid healthcare options.

I ER'd at 58 and my spouse retired at 56. We live in FL and use Florida Blue Bronze Plan as our healthcare provider. We manage to keep our MAGI under the 62K threshold for a married couple. We have no debt or mortgage. As a result, we qualify for the monthly subsidy of $1744.00 that covers...

Why aren't more using a Christian Plan?

My husband and I are on ACA with a subsidy. Trying to get onto a "Christian Plan" would be problematic I'm sure.

    HC %

It's just the two of us. We purchased a Cigna Bronze plan here in Missouri. The monthly premium ($1260.52) comes in under what we are qualified for with a subsidy, that why it's $0. Of course if we come in over the 400% FPL, all bets are off and we have to pay back the yearly cost of all...

    HC %

0% for 2018. We qualify for the top end of the ACA subsidy, which covers our entire premium, as long as we keep our income below 62K for the year. I monitor it pretty close during the year. If it looks like we're burning through more or we need a little extra, I'll get it from my Roth IRA...

    Cell Phone Question

When you buy a new car, do you get tires for life when they wear down? No. Lithium batteries are not forever either. Better than your phone bricking every time you launched an app. Granted, Apple should have controlled the message, not someone else.
