What happens when Americans get sick overseas?

Look for a policy which has a pre-existing condition waiver if you purchase the insurance within a certain amount of time (usually a couple of weeks or so) after your first payment for the trip. There are quite a few companies out there that offer this. We just signed up with Allianz for a...

    Oenophiles?

On our first trip to the Big Island, HI, DH and I were sitting at a romantic waterside table and decided to order a good bottle of red. While we were checking out the wine list, the waitress told us she had a great recommendation--it was a really "fresh" bottle of wine. :duh:

    Alternatives to Viking Cruises?

Another Tauck river cruise fan. We did a French river cruise and it was first class all the way. I'd love to do another one and take some friends.

    Do Work Nightmares Ever End?

Retired 8 years and I still dream about w*rk. I used to travel quite a bit for the job and most of my dreams are about rushing to airports, looking for gates, missing planes, desperately trying to get home, finding rental cars, losing my way in strange cities, etc. Most of them are...

    Blow That Dough! -2021

That's beautiful! I love the top pull-out 'breadboard' shelf. (I searched and found another online.) And the curved top which would allow easier access to the shelf below. Our challenge is we now have an adjustable bed, and when it's elevated a bit, it positions us too far away to easily...

Poll: Have You Had A Covid Vaccine?

We got our 2nd Pfizer shots yesterday (Friday) afternoon. Both of us were super tired last night, and I slept in til 11 am this morning. Took a late nap from 6 to 9 pm because I was still wiped out. Late tonight I feel close to 'normal' again. Upper arm is still a bit sore.

I got a confession to make about bacon...

For St. Patrick's Day last year, I cooked our corned beef dinner in my new electric pressure cooker (similar to an Instant Pot). DH, whose family made great stovetop corned beef dinners for years, said it was the best he's ever had. As I recall, it took about 90 minutes.

    Input wanted: chapped hands

For hands that are very dry, I prefer Aquaphor Healing Ointment seen HERE. It feels a bit greasy at first, but if you continue to massage into your hands it will absorb fairly quickly. Also great for cuticles and nails.

One of the funniest things I've seen in a while. Thanks for the laugh.

Good News--No Bad Side effects to Covid Vaccine

The available slots were all gone by the time we checked in. I'm looking each day, and I'll call them if something doesn't open up soon. My understanding is they want you to go back to the same location. SIL & BIL were at another pharmacy of the same chain a few days earlier and they were able...

Good News--No Bad Side effects to Covid Vaccine

DH and I both got our Pfizer vaccines on Friday at a local Albertsons and neither of us had side effects other than sore arms. Mine kicked in as soon as an hour after the vaccine, in spite of exercising the arm off and on the rest of the day. DH only noticed his arm soreness overnight and just...

RIP Mary Wilson (of The Supremes)

And another of theirs. First heard this when I was 13 and we moved next door to 'older' teens who had a great collection.

RIP Mary Wilson (of The Supremes)

ERD50, the Vanilla Fudge was also a really good version. Remember it well.

RIP Mary Wilson (of The Supremes)

What a great legacy. My sisters and I used to listen to all their songs and knew the lyrics to most. I loved Motown music...Smokey was another favorite.

My first impression as well. But then I thought, "What's Gordon doing with that turkey?" ;D

Poll:Of the $600 stimulus check, how much will you spend?

Don't believe we'll get one, but if by chance we do, it'll go to the local food bank.

What is on your Christmas list?

My DH got me a vacuum cleaner--while we were still dating! Amazingly, we still got married a couple of years later. (Full disclosure: I had just moved to a new apartment and needed a vacuum, but still...)

What is on your Christmas list?

I'd like a nice popcorn popper and some gourmet popcorn. Not sure if I should ask for an electric or an air-popper. (Anyone have a favorite?)

    The Photographers' Corner 2013-2020

I love this little guy--so much I'd pay for a print, if you should ever choose to get into that. We have feeders up around here and love bird watching--and goldfinches are some of my favorites.

    Wine Clubs

I'm also a fan of Naked Wines and have been a member for over a year now. I've had good luck ordering the all-red cases and enjoy trying new wines with each order. My preference is to elect when I want a case, vs. having an automatic shipment. About three months ago I discovered Splash wines...

    Face masks

Harlee, I recently ordered these for my husband: Men's King-Size Masks, and they arrived today. They're lightweight and the inside layer has a pocket where you can insert a filter or another layer of choice. Plus the ear loops have a toggle, so they adjust. They fit hubby really well...

Plantar Fasciitis site with tons of useful info

Crocs Worked for Me I've had PF before and tried numerous stretching exercises that didn't work for me. Just by chance, I had an old pair of Crocs I only rarely used and tried those for relief when walking. Really did the trick for me--as I remember, my PF resolved within a week or two. A...

I am helping my brother with his auto insurance

What minimum limits are required by his umbrella insurance? Those may explain the amounts he currently has, which to me are reasonable.
