    Cartagena, Columbia SA Restaurant Recs

You can get a coconut limonade at Espiritu Santo also. It is fun watching them make them in large batches!

    Cartagena, Columbia SA Restaurant Recs

I had a nice seafood meal at La Mulata in the old town. Restaurant Espiritu Santo is only open at lunch, but it is a budget friendly place that caters to the locals and has nice filling meals. No matter where you dine, make sure that you have some of the coconut limonade, it is really tasty.

    Munich or Vienna?

Audrey, honest, none of those empties was mine....;D;D

    Munich or Vienna?

I have been to Munich at least 10 times over the years for work and vacation and I can confirm that you can get liters of beer in the beer gardens any time and not just during Oktoberfest. My favorite Munich biergarten is the Augustiner garden near the Hauptbahnhof. I found it less touristy than...

I've got Covid.... The thread for your covid experiences

My wife had COVID last week (somehow, I missed it). When she asked the pharmacist about Paxlovid, she was told that they only are giving it to higher risk patients (she is mid 60's and in good health), or if you take a serious turn for the worse. She was told to take Tylenol and it did clear up...

Don't have to rotate your tires?

On a visit to Newfoundland last year, I heard this type of tire described as "baloney skin" tires. LOL;D

Post your favorite 70s/80's one hit wonders here.

OMG - I am having a flashback to the 1970's. I remember this song from the Dr. Demento show, although this is the first time that I have actually seen the video.

Finger Lakes region - New York

DW and I are looking at 4 or 5 days in the Finger Lakes region in mid October. What would folks here recommend as must sees in this area? I would like to base ourselves in a central location and then do day trips from there - any suggestions as to a good base with some restaurant options...

    Music videos

Thanks for that song, Koolau. It holds a special place in my heart for me, as our daughter played it at her wedding, not knowing that I also liked that version. I had heard it a number of years before, but she also discovered it independently although I like to think that my musical influences...

Heathrow to Central London Transfer: Uber or Taxi?

+many. Agree that the Heathrow Express train to Paddington is the way to go. No need to pre-reserve, It is easy to get tickets whenever you land and clear customs. The last time that I arrived, there were agents selling tickets as you walked to the trains to minimize lineups. Very convenient and...

Price of oil change in your area

Thanks. I think that you folks have convinced me now that $79.95 Canadian for a synthetic oil and filter change at my local shop is in fact, a good deal.;D

Travel- How often, how long, how much $$?

Nothing too exciting/special/sinister. DW likes her accomodations to be more "comfortable" than some of the rustic Air BnB's that me and my friends partake of. Also, I am much more willing to tolerate 6 to 8 hour bus rides on intercity buses in South America than she would be; her preferences...

Travel- How often, how long, how much $$?

Just finishing up a month in Ecuador travelling around the country with a couple of friends. With only a couple of days left, it looks like the total cost should be about $4000 USD for 29 days including Business class airfare to Quito from Canada. We do this by renting AirBnB houses and...

    World Cup 2022

But they will have to get past Canada (LOL! Gotta plug my home side). Actually the women's WC should be very competitive with lots of sides having the potential to win including England, Brazil, Germany, France and others. Should be fun to watch, but I agree that today's game was great. Just...

Hotel member rates vs Senior rate

I checked several Hilton Hotel brands where I have upcoming reservations, and the member price was EXACTLY the same as the AAA, Senior, AARP rates. But, perhaps calling the hotel directly just before you will be arriving, may net you a better price if they aren't busy, but I have seen this go...

Anyone Else Soured on Dining Out?

Count me in for the catfish loving side. DW doesn't care for them, so that in combination with the fact that it is hard to find un seasoned catfish north of the border, means that I don't get them very often. A few years ago, I was in the Evansville, IN area and had their regional specialty...

    Amsterdam

It depends a bit as to what you are looking for in your travels to Amsterdam. I have been going to the Netherlands for work for several years and I stay in the local city of city of Leiden. If you are looking for the "Dutch experience" with canals, small cities, food, etc. without the crowds of...

Playing the exchange rate when visiting Argentina

Cambios giving you a better rate than your credit card or an ATM? If you believe that, I have some swampland in Florida that I need to talk to you about. I have been to Argentina several times, and the street side cambios were always to be avoided. But as Koolau says, YMMV!
