    Plan for Rarely Driven Truck

You guys were right about selling the truck, it just took me a while to realize it. Got $3,700 for the Tacoma and it's wonderful to have such a large garage.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I just got back from a mosh pit at a rave. Ha ha. But you're right. But looking ahead, how many extroverts (not me), after a month of staying in their house, are going to say, "I can't take it anymore. Screw it. I'm going to the local COVID party"?

Good advice, but my concern was about the two hotels and four restaurants that I would be visiting. But as I said, I'm not canceling.

Still no info on acquired immunity (I know I asked this before)? Shouldn't it be possible to determine whether the body acquires immunity or resistance to the virus once a person has had it? Can't you test the blood of a recovered COVID-19 patient for antibodies? This is important...

I think this is probably true, and it mirrors what the governor of California said. People have been saying this for a while. However. I haven't seen the kind of sudden jump in cases that would happen when all of these people develop symptoms—OTOH, maybe the increases we're seeing are due...

We used the hand sanitizer that's been in the car for months, and it was the viscosity of water. Is that normal? The car doesn't get that hot around here, but the stuff is old.

I've got to travel to have Mohs surgery for my basal cell cancer. I'd like to cancel it, but I also would like to get it cut out. Maybe I'll call and see if others have cancelled and I can get in earlier. Unrelated to that, I was going to schedule a hearing test, but that can wait.

I don't want to be an enabler, but I'm okay with my tendency to be a recluse. I've given up trying to fight it. Waking up knowing there's nowhere I need to be that day: priceless.

What did you do today? - 2020 version

Experienced a 5.8 earthquake last night. Big enough to be fun but not big enough to be scary. Hopped online to answer the usual question: Is it the big one far away (e.g. San Fran), or a small one close by. More like the second:

    >>Italy's current count is 5,883 cases, I think much of the math-challenged public is about to get a lesson in exponential growth. The jumps are going to be shocking. Many of us here understand it because that's how we retired (compounding).

Yes, it's difficult (impossible?). I've vowed that I'm going to try to avoid shaking hands no matter how awkward it seems. I wrote this to my sister, related to our upcoming visit (I have to go to her area for my basal cell facelift): I'm a little worried about COVID and you, Gail, given your...

I agree, but unfortunately the meanings of words change with use. Expect MW to change the definition of "pregnant" at some point.

I'd love to sell it and have only one car, but that would mean no more kayaking/fishing. Surfing and biking would be problematic also. But the whole garage for the Tesla? A pleasure.

It's important for planning to estimate where this thing is heading. Here's my extrapolation from March 1 that predicted 1 billion infected outside China by June. The orange diamond shows where we were yesterday (based on the Johns Hopkins data).

Will be visiting my seventy-six-year-old sister next week. She has Parkinson's which puts her at somewhat higher risk of infection. There's only one case of CV near me and two near her, so I guess we'll still hug when we get together, but it's something I think about. If I lived in Seattle, I'd...

A study I would like to see: Randomly test 1,000 people on the streets of, say, Seattle and see how many test positive for the virus. It's not going to happen, and it's a crude test, but it would give people crucial information for making decisions.

That's a wonderful site with a great interface, but today, for the first time, it's reporting "No Data" for many of the stats. Maybe it's a temporary glitch, but I expect that at some point, it will only be able display estimated numbers. Yesterday: Today:
