Individual 401(k) for LLC, now sole proprietor

Following up... Called VG one more time and got someone on the phone who gave me yet another slightly different answer. He said to fill out the restatement form with the current information (sole proprietor). That's enough to update the plan. Did that and got the confirmation from VG today that...

Individual 401(k) for LLC, now sole proprietor

Thanks for all these replies! Clearly a fuzzy area. I called VG back again and got a different person, who said it's no problem at all. As a sole proprietor, I'm still eligible for an individual 401k, so she said just fill out the restatement paperwork with the current, updated information...

Individual 401(k) for LLC, now sole proprietor

Hmm...that's a point I didn't consider, that I would need to fire myself before being able to roll over the 401k. I planned to roll it into an IRA when I finished this contract, but obviously I need to check into that process.

Yes, it's a solo 401k. Just me, never had any employees.

Individual 401(k) for LLC, now sole proprietor

I figure someone here has dealt with this before... I got a letter from Vanguard last week telling me I need to do a restatement of my individual 401(k). At first I didn't understand it, but after some internet investigating I see that it's and IRS requirement to make sure that the plan complies...

    Hello All

Welcome! It sounds like you're off to a great start, keep up the good work. My husband is active duty and planning to retire in 2017 with 22 years. Based on the advice I've seen around here, I'd have encouraged him to stay in the reserves if he'd gotten out sooner. Envoyé de mon iPod touch...

MIL ready for retirement community - advice?

Thanks for all the replies. It sounds like it's basically a matter of due diligence to find a place that she likes, can afford, and looks well-managed and solvent. I think I underestimated the range of options that might be out there. To Ready's question, I suspect she's hung up on moving only...

MIL ready for retirement community - advice?

My MIL announced this week that she is ready to sell the family home and move to Charleston to live near my BIL, SIL and the grandkids. She has in mind that a continuing care retirement community would be best because she "only wants to move once." From my initial searching around, CCRCs sound...

Anyone tried Juice Plus or alternatives?

Thanks! I knew people here would have some suggestions! Should have thought of wikipedia, I'll go look through that stuff. I completely agree about eating real food, and so does the dietitian, the pills would be in addition to that as a boost right now while I recover from some problems and...

Anyone tried Juice Plus or alternatives?

I've been seeing a dietitian for some health issues and she recommends Juice Plus to her clients. It seems like a decent product but it's multi-level marketed (i.e., she gets a commission when I buy it) and I hate stuff like that. Some searching around turned up at least one other similar...

33yo Air Force Guy wants to RETIRE at 45

Welcome! My husband is USMC and we are planning to early retire when he hits 20 in 2015. I'm jealous, though, we never made it overseas! One thing you mentioned in your post was the gap between 45 and 60 - do a search for 72t withdrawals. Basically, there is a way to access some of the money...
