Anyone familiar with the builder Mattamy Homes?

Remember, the OP hasn't even contracted for a home to be built. I don't know why people think that it would be okay for them to walk onto private property that they don't own to check things out without getting permission first.

As I said earlier, there's a big difference if it's your lot and house that you're already paying for compared to a random person that hasn't signed a contract showing up at building company's construction site.

A couple of years ago, there was a small townhome community under construction a few blocks from me. One evening I walked over and looked around. Turned out that there was a security guard. He was bored. We talked about the development for a few minutes, and then he offered to give me a tour of one on the completed units, which I accepted.

I knew a bunch of guys who worked part time as construction site security. The main reason they're there is to prevent theft of materials, tools, and appliances. And call the fire department if something catches fire. Since you weren't doing any of those things he didn't care what else you did.
