Going to a banquet need your opinion

Cool. What's the point of dressing up? Impress others? Or impress yourself?

Retirement is all about doing what you want to do and not what others expect you to do.

If you want a tux, wear a tux. Like shorts and sandals, likewise.

IMHO, there are two extremes in how we dress. One is the "I wear want I want if others don't like it, to bad". Really? My guess is that most people who say that would take offense if, for example, I showed up at their daughter's wedding in my ratty, worn, dirty bib overalls and combat boots.

OTOH, I would hate to have to dress for dinner every night like His Lordship and the rest of the Downton Abbey crowd.
