Newly retired and first post - Has anybody been able to make pre-tax contributions from pension to HSA while under Age 65. I can’t seem to get these deductions from my Pension administrator.. I had pre-tax contributions before retiring ..Thanks

Hmmmm - didn’t know that was an option.

We get credit for our HSA contributions on our 1040 tax return which makes it effectively pre-tax. If you are no longer paying FICA I don’t see any difference other than timing.

Yeah, you don't pay FICA on pension income. There's not even a timing issue. Just contribute the max on January 1 if you so please. Or make an automatic recurring deposit.

I meant timing as in when you pay or don't pay taxes, but that would depend on how withholding was done so it's probably a wash.
