Money management software

Or a one-time fee of $49.99 for MoneyDance, and if you chose to take an upgrade in the year it is issued -$25 for the upgrade.

+1 for Microsoft Money Sunset Edition. I've been using MS Money since 1996 and I have yet to find a better solution. It has account registries to track all transactions, Investment accounts, multi-currency support, Lifetime and retirement planning, budgeting, reporting and graphs, Bill scheduling, Cash flow analysis, Portfolio Analysis. I used this to track my networth on my journey to retirement. The lifetime (retirement) planner also added confidence that my plan was solid. You can play around with many variables to see different scenarios. It's extremely useful at tax time as I have set up all my reports to summarize the previous year's tax-related information. Best of all it's free.

Yes, it is no longer a supported product, but it is perfectly stable on Windows 10. Most of my financial institutions still support downloading transactions in OFX money exports. The ones that do not, I export as CSV and use a free (trial) version of https://www.propersoft.net/products/csv2ofx to convert. I can only do 10 transactions at a time with the trial version, but that's not a problem for me. I just do it more regularly.

Stock quotes are no longer automated, but there are a number of 3rd party software to do this. Info can be found here: https://microsoftmoneyoffline.wordpress.com/

There are some free java versions, but I personally paid $10 for the MS Money Quotes by Graier Software. https://gaiersoftware.com/Money

I didn't like the MS Money Sunset Edition, so I'm still on Money 97!

It's really perfect for what I do, which is keep track of checking and credit card accounts. No need to download anything, I just balance each account when the statement is available for download. It keeps me involved just enough to have a clear picture of what's going on, without putting in too much effort.

Other things I can manage on line directly, like my 401k.

To each their own. Each of us decides how much effort to put into managing finances. I'd never own anything from Quicken, much less pay an annual subscription. I'd like to find an open source or inexpensive replacement to MS Money, but have yet to find one.

MS Money Sunset edition. Anyone have a link to download this? The Microsoft link doesn't have a download anymore

I downloaded and installed from CNET and it seems to be fine. Have not completely set it up yet for my banks. My Quicken subscription expires in 1 month so I need to decide soon.
I updated my Quicken file this morning and it once again it downloaded duplicate transaction from Discoverbank which is NOT a point in their favor. This constantly happens and it's so annoying especially when I'm paying for the privilege with my subscription fee.
