You will love Montreal. Location of Megacorp's CA HQ for me. Been there couple dozen times.
Here's a couple of nice places in Old Montreal: Auberge du Vieux-Port, Hôtel Bonaparte, Hotel St Paul. I've done Airbnb several times with great success.
St Denis, St Laurent, Griffintown all interesting areas. If you're the energetic type, i recommend the hike to top of Mt Royal.
Don't miss the underground city below Centrevile. Lots of great shopping and restaurants.
Metro is great. $10 for unlimited day pass. Also, you can catch the 747 bus at the airport and will take you downtown. Cabs will run $50 to downtown.
Might consider couple days in Quebec City. Train easy way to get there from downtown station.
