We have 4 nights opening in Bergen, Norway this July.
Our first trip to Norway and would appreciate ideas for how to best use our time.
We are open to leaving Bergen but need a simple trip to return to Bergen to board our Viking ship
Thanks to all in advance

Hire a local guide for the first day or half day. Get help making plans for the other three.

Plan two full days just in Bergen. Plenty to do there. Take the funicular up Mount Floyen, enjoy lunch or dinner in the wonderful fish market area, explore the old castle and reconstructed buildings, walk around the harbor and the downtown area. You could take the train to Flam for a day trip.

Yeah the day trip to the glaciers would be common.

Norway in a Nutshell has day tours, which is a combination of train and ferry tickets and timetables.

You have to book in advance and of course weather can turn.

NWSteve, where are you staying in Bergen? We will be there in August before our cruise

+1. IIRC, it seems like we did a boat ride out of Flam(?) and after taking the funicular up the mountain we did a hike above Bergen and hiked back down the mountain into the other end of town. The hiking trail was well defined and basically on tundra environment. We only ran into a few other hikers, but did ran into a pack of ninja turtle hikers (~15 to 20 hikers), which was very odd.

Take a fjord tour.

^An RIB tour gets you up close, so even though you'll be cruising the fjords on the ship, the little boat is different.
