In the "What did you do today" thread, Khan notes: "Bought much stuff at farmers' market." This reminded me of a recent stop at Trader Joe's. It seems to me that stopping at Trader Joe's or the local famers market results in me buying extra stuff that I'd never buy during a normal/routine trip to the grocery store.

Now I'm not complaining and these places sell interesting items, for sure, but do I really need those Pumpernickle Pretzel Sticks from the snack section. Heck, I never even knew they existed, but now I've got a bag.

Just an observation. Anyone else see it this way?

Perhaps the opposite. I can spend $5-10 on some new and interesting food items or beer/wine choices at TJ's. Then skip going out to eat and spending the $20+ (without any alcohol).
