Spot the ISS

I never had the app but have stumbled onto it a few times by chance. We also watched one of the iridium satellites do a slow burn in when we were flying a light plane on a clear night.

If you want to really get into satellite watching, check out https://www.heavens-above.com/

If you check any recent Starlink launch you may be able to see dozens of satellites cross the sky like pearls on a string.

BTW, the Iridium flares are in the past, but were way cool to suddenly see a bright object appear and disappear in a matter of seconds. I once accidentally caught one in broad daylight.

You can also watch the live video stream...sometimes it's neat to see your area when the ISS passes overhead in the daylight.

This happened to a couple of my friends and I as we sat in my backyard one night having a bonfire last spring.

We had actually been discussing SpaceX and low and behold we looked up a little while later and there was a perfectly formed line of about 8 satellites in the sky.

Being well along in my cups I might have been less than enthusiastic about such space "junk" cluttering up the view... (I am actually generally a huge SpaceX fan though)
