well, to close this up in case any is curious...
I've enjoyed traveling to and from my institution of labor by bicycle for a couple of years. a few days after i gave my notice of my resignation, a kind lady failed to see me on my bicycle and side swipped me. she was kind enough to at least stop and be accountable for her actions (which sadly, is about the best you can hope for these days). after being taken to the hospital, i was declared to be "ambulatory," to have no internal bleeding and just suffering bruised and broken ribs. although, i don't actually believe any of my ribs were broken. my supervisor believed the story, cast a little pity on me and it got me out of a couple days of "handover."
i enjoyed full and unsupervised access to all copy machines and network files to just about ever oil and gas asset my former employer owned. i had no real temptation to take any of the data nor did I. i thought there would have been some issues showing up at night with a dolly and moving boxes of my books out to a personal vehicle, but there wasn't. i guess security is pretty lax at the largest [-]oil[/-] energy company based in california
DW and I also completed our "once in a lifetime" europe trip. DW continues to talk about going back. I also scratched an item off my bucket list while we were over there, and I completed the Paris-Brest-Paris ride in 87 hours and 43 minutes (
linky in case you are curious).
DW and I also got our Houston home under contract in about 5 days, fetching a couple grand over asking price. We completed that sale while in Europe. We ended up buying a new home here in Salt Lake, which took WAY longer than expected. If any ever wants to use Provident as a lender, beware. We closed some 16 days after we were scheduled to. But, I have attached a picture from our yard as the sun sets over the great salt lake.
the new j*b is great!! the people are wonderful and it is fun. life has been a major improvement! we've even already completed our first weekend trip down to Moab. Can't be happier (even though the bene's suck at the new j*b). AND t-minus 9 weeks until new baby girl throws a ripple into our lives.
