For grins I calculated what the 2023 COLA increase for Social Security would be if there was zero change in the CPI-W over the next 6 months (yeah, right). It came out to 5.5%. (March index value of 283.176 is 5.5% higher than the 2021 3Q average of 268.421).
More likely we're probably looking at a 8-9% increase next year. That's the good news. The bad news is that we are all probably spending it already.
