Not sure of 10, but my #1 favorite movie is The Perfect Storm. I saw it on TV this afternoon for the 4th or 5th time, and I think one of the all time heartbreaking movie scenes is where the Andrea Gail is in a trough and starting up the face of the next wave, and the mate gives it full throttle then we see that the wave is just too steep, they don't have the horses to get up and over. The first time I saw this scene, in a theater, I thought now they are down to 1% chance of survival.

New day, new list and runner up list. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre if only for the “badges” scene although the whole movie is good. The Color Purple is probably Speilberg's best work. If it is the best why is a runner up? Don't know.

I scrolled through the thread, and recognized many that I have watched. All good movies. But the one on top of my list is:

A great epic movie that would be even more appreciated by anyone who has been through a life upheaval of his own. The novel of the same name by Boris Pastenak is on my reading list, which I keep delaying. Perhaps I need to go up to my boonies home with this book and others that I have meant to read for years.

Listened to an interview with Omar Sharf on the radio about his experiences in the making of Dr Zhivago and Lawrence of Arabia. The anouncer started out with the statement that Lawrence of Arabia was one of the greatest movies ever made. It is a classic for sure.
Omar is funny: "I made this other movie about some Russian guy".
