Trex is always on vacation!

My 3rd stop was at the Mt Lassen trailhead... The trail is closed for repairs at the 1.3 mile mark, so I didn't hike. One of the Park Rangers said that it wouldn't be open until next summer...so hopefully, I can make the hike next year.

Stop number 4 was at the Bumpass Hell trailhead, (BHT), 1 1/2 mile flat hike from that location, except for the last 100 foot drop into the thermally active basin, it's the largest concentration of hydrothermal features in the park...it was named after an early settler who severly burned a leg after falling into a boiling pool.. it's a must see!

Also from BHT parking lot at the 8,000 foot level, one can look out at Diamond peak, Brokeoff Mt, and kids clumbing one big rock.

My last stop in the park was at the south exit... There is an old ski lodge, that is now a visitor center. As a young person, in the 60's, we would go snow skiing there. The Park pulled the ski area out, once Mt. Shasta opened to the public in the mid 80's.

Lots of Harley's on the road today.

Once I left the Park, I traveled west on Hwy 36 to the Manton Road cutoff, than north by northwest on the Wildcat road, thru the Holiday ranch, with their miles & miles of rock walls! Nice ride and back home by 5:00 PM, total miles 120 round trip.

One person (okay, maybe two, you and the Bunny) should not be allowed to have so much fun without sharing it, so thanks!!!!

Thank you Mrs. Best....The Bunny and I are enjoying life to its fullest. I guess I do have one ER issue, and that is Bank of America. But that's for another thread, not here.

What a unique name for the settler - Bumpass Hell.

Your theme song should be "On the Road Again" :)

Thanks for sharing all of your travels and the pictures. I enjoyed!

KingB...You funny guy!!!! Bumpass was his last name...and it must have felt like hell, after falling into a pool. Yes, I know you're making a joke....

Just a lucky guess. Figured someone who appreciates the Dude also appreciates Willie. It's that free spirited non-conformist thing.

June 27th we left for Campground by the lake at South Lake Tahoe, to spend the 4th of July week with friends from Iowa. 5 1/2 hour drive...once we got there we setup camp and had a cocktail.

On day two we drove over to Reno and Picked up Deb & Tony at the Airport...a 1 hour drive from South Lake Tahoe.

My truck & Airstream right before departure...Pic 2, Deb & Bunny having a Rita, once we got back from the airport. Pic 3 & 4, Jacky in the window, and The Bunny.

Later during that 2nd day we went for a bike ride to the casinos...we stopped to get a pic of the lake. I brought with us, 4 bicycles, so everyone would have a way to get around Tahoe, the casinos are only 2 mile away...

The next day we drove over to Virgina City.... I love this town because of it's living history of the Old West. And yes, it's a Tourist Trap, but it's still fun to go there with our friends who have never been... Travel time is one hour from Tahoe or Reno.

Day three was great, we went swmming at the "Heavenly Ski Run Beach", walked around a car show, and than went up to the top the Heavenly ski area...by Gondola. Another fun day and a big time tourist trap....I liked how some kid changed the "No smoking" sign in the Gondola to a "No Pie" sign. It's the little things in life, that are funny.:greetings10:

So the girls went for a bike ride, and decided to "Plank" anything & everything they could...

The following day we decided to go out on the Tahoe Queen for their afternoon Booze cruise... nice way to spend the 5th of July.

Deb wanted her pic taken with Marlin Perkins... Once you leave Ski Run Marina, they take you out to Emerald Bay. Than they make the turn at Viking Island, and back to....

You& Bunny are really enjoying retirement . Are you a full time RVer ? Great pictures !

The last day at the campground...our camping neighbor, snapped a pic of the four of us & and Rita. More pics of the Ski Run Marina, and the Tahoe Queen.

So, on the last day that Deb & Tony were with us, my truck started leaking diesel fuel. I lost maybe a 1/4 tank of fuel driving it to the airport to drop them off, than to the dodge dealership in Reno. The dealership fixed the leak for a $29. dollar fuel filler and O-ring.

Overall The Bunny and I had a great time, but we both want to go to Lake Syskiyou next year for the 4th of July... it's closer to home.

I miss going to Lake Tahoe! I used to get there about twice a year when the air wing went to train at Fallon, NV. Skiing in Oct rocks!
