I think people who have a lot (and thus are good cannon fodder in these sorts of discussions) were used to making a lot and spending a lot. A lot of their life is based on identifying with what they were, how much they made, and how much they spent. Shutting off the money-main is concerning.

You can do what I did and step off, see what happens, and if in a year or two you're not making it work for you, arent comfortable, then declare your "sabbatical" a success and step back on..

Or you could be like John G, steal a lot of napkins to plan on the back of (what the HELL does he do with the fronts anyhow?), run like hell, and never look back.
