This afternoon, I saw one of my cats drink from the bowl portion of the water fountain 
.
This was after I filled the bowl up almost to the rim with cold, filtered water. Looks like I may have more than just a decoration then.

.I have two cats and I have water bowls inside and also outside. (My cats can come and go through the cat door.) If there is water in the outside water bowls, they much prefer those--I think they really like it when they are filled with rain water. They won't go near a fountain. They prefer porcelain or glass water bowls that are not near their food.
