Early retirement for media phrases?

Optics. Badly mis and overused. Usually have nothing to do with light or enlightenment.

My peronal preference...
The talking heads moderator....
"We've got to go to a break... so, to John" ...." in fifteen seconds, what is your take on the '____________' situation?"

and...

"We'll save that til the next time."

"We'll have more on that story after the break"

.......and then it's some minor detail not worth waiting for. This is why I have completely given up on watching TV news.

"Go-to." I encounter this more in magazines than on TV. It seems every page of any women's mag has a reference to "your go-to color," "go-to blouse," "go-to lipstick," "go-to exercise," "go-to recipe," and so forth. (What happened to "favorite"?) Worse than a cliche, it's baby talk. Baby talk, from anybody except a baby, sets my teeth on edge.

Amethyst

The use of "earregardless" instead of regardless.

The press anointing everyone as a "hero".

Active shooter. Shooter isn't enough? Even saw one reporter describe the police sending in their own active shooters to confront the active shooter.

"The reason ... is because ...."

"The reason being is ...."

:banghead:

"Channel 5 is on your side"

"News you can trust"

I always knew Channel 9 was against me personally as well as human civilization!
