The Eagles - Lip Syncing? Milli Vanilli redux?

The guy on Wings of Pegasus is outstanding and very fair. I trust if he is stating this than it must be true, since he is very complementary of most musicians he reviews.

As for going to see the Eagles and paying good money, these aren't the Eagles I saw back in the day. It is one thing to get old; it is another to be missing three or four of your mainstays, including Bernie Leadon, from your heyday. I wouldn't pay to see anyone from the 60s and 70s since oftentimes they are down to one original member and a bunch of 20 and 30 year olds. Better to just listen to the original tracks.

We did see the Eagles years ago with the main members intact. Great concert.
We still go every year to see the Happy Together tour where mostly the main singers are still singing the 60's songs.

Thanks for posting this, ERD50. I haven't watched the video but based on the integrity of the YT'er and your comments i gotta believe it's true.

I'm as big an Eagles fan as the next guy but their blatant commercialism over the past few years has soured me. Too many Farewell Tours at $300-400 a pop in large arenas...no thanks.

The Turtles still around? In the 1990s and 2000s we used to live in Syracuse where the NY State Fair took place. While they had modern grandstand acts that you had to pay for (they were usually horrible), they also had another stage that they brought in older acts for free. I saw people like Judy Collins (beautiful concert), Johnny Rivers (surprisingly good, and a very good guitarist), and ELO (even minus Jeff Lynne they were outstanding) among others. Wouldn't pay to see acts from then like the Eagles since they are so old now, and as I said, minus most of the originals due to old age or, God forbid, death.

Sorry, no. You haven't followed the conversation.

No one can sing a song exactly the same, and being months apart, just makes the point even further (not that it had to be made, enough is enough).

As I said earlier, and Fil explains - he is looking at the vocal "under a microscope". It simply isn't physically possible to duplicate the timing and vibrato of phrase after phrase to that degree of accuracy. A performance that might "sound the same" to you and me, is not "exactly" the same - no way.

In this case, they replicated a studio sound, because this vocal was recorded in a studio, and used in place of live vocals in at least two performances, w/o being upfront with the audience as to what they were getting.

There was a different kind of 'pride' involved here.

Could be people are just jerking you around, knowing how you feel. I was tempted to, but I try not to troll.

I'm 50/50 on this. Maybe the Eagles should be exposed for lip syncing, or maybe you should let people be oblivious to it and enjoy their concerts.

1 of the 2 main Turtles still around. The other one has back issues.
However most of the bands have at least the main singer.
2.5 hour show with typically 5/6 bands for less than $100 for 10th row orchestra seats.

I love the Eagles music but have never seen a concert. I do love the Hell Freezes Over video that's available (on tape in the old days) and on DVD now.

If they're lip syncing now, that's kind of a shame. No major interest in seeing them.
