It kept going for more than twenty times longer than its original mission was supposed to last, but it looks like the Mars rover Spirit has finally bitten the (red) dust.
It snapped the first photo of Earth taken from another planet - I love the sense of humor on the "you are here" balloon. And, the sister vehicle Opportunity, still works.
