When I was in my last year of work prior to retiring, one of my younger (mid-30's) team members at mega-corp took an interest in how I was able to be ready to retire early (age 55). We had a few discussions over the course of several months and I mentioned a couple of books that might be of interest to him.
When retirement day came he gave me a new copy of "Your Money or Your Life" signed by the surviving author Vicki Robin with a message "Dear (Zuma), Congratulations and best wishes on your early retirement!"
I thought this was the nicest, most thoughtful gift anyone could have given me.
I have several former colleagues within reach of retirement years to whom I will probably want to give modest gifts. Has anyone else received something really memorable that they'd like to mention?
