How did you come up with your Username here?

So I am new here. I am divorced female attorney. Raised two kids on my own. Had a bad divorce and had to start over financially. I use pro se because that is the legal terminology for people who represent themselves. Not a smart thing to do in that circumstance but in my circumstances, I feel as if it is appropriate. I always take care of myself and I am proud of that.

Here's a pic of my split window. This was at the '63 reunion at Corvettes At Carlisle last year. I'm a girl but do love my vehicles!

 
Means "look behind." Common term used in military flying.

before I retired early, I was earning money to be free but also yearning to be free-- so my name could represent both ideas at the same time...Now I do not need to do either (so maybe I should change to iamfree) but I have kept the old name.

Oh, it's a split rear window! :facepalm: I'm not much of a car buff, but I just couldn't picture a Corvette with a split front window, and that's what I thought your name meant.

My daughter was sitting next to me when I registered and I used her nickname. If I ever start posting regularly, then I'll probably try and get it changed. In the meantime, it works well enough.
 
May have to change my handle -- still have the dog but no longer live on a lake.

Well Ivins is a beautiful little town near St. George UT. Since we live in MN it's the place we would buy a winter home, if we ever bought one. So it represents a very enjoyable dream.

We still love going to Ivins, but we won't be buying there. We rented a 15 year old 3 bedroom furnished house with all utilities, internet and full cable, 2 miles from Snow Canyon State park for a month in Jan-Feb15. Total out of pocket cost 1250.00 At prices like that... no incentive to buy and pay the carrying cost. Just one town of many beautiful towns in the state of Utah

I got mine from my investment farm.. It's on an old dirt road called Winter Rd. and the farm itself is my little haven away from everyone else... Hence the name.. :)
 
I changed mine in around 2007, when my portfolio reached 7 figures (the first time, before dropping in 2008). It's both a tribute to my favorite James Bond actor, Sir Roger Moore - combined with the fact that I figured I needed to increase my fixed income exposure a little as early retirement became a real possibility in the not-too-distant future. So to give it a bit of a double meaning, I made it MooreBonds.

But it's not as applicable these days, as I've since realized I still need a healthy dose of equities, so my portfolio is only 15% fixed income, as ER is still a ways away (hoping to get married first). Perhaps it should be "MooreBondsSomeday".
 
When I retired at 43 I left a lucrative career behind and did so in order to pursue my own interests and never be owned by anyone again. I'm following an intentional road.
 
Walt is my first name. 34 is part of a number that I wrote on every one of thousands of hand printed reports before I retired.

I love a keyboard!
 
I could say it's a variation on the name of a Greek Island. (Rhodes or Rodi).

But it's actually a variation on a nickname of a branch of extended family that I co-opted.
 
I've got a bunch of mostly useless scientific plant names floating around in my head. I see that when I finally joined, it was during the spring. I'm guessing that I may have seen dill sprouting in my vegetable garden that day. (Dill is an annual which self-sows where it grew the previous season in my vegetable garden.) The one thing that's a bit unusual about dill is that it's the only species in the genus Anethum. BTW, the french word for dill is "aneth". I like dill well enough, but my favorite culinary herb is in the much larger genus Ocimum (which includes basil).

I explained my screen name in the first introductory post a long time ago, but I will repeat it here.

For many years, I wanted to retire to the Northwest, and my dream home would have a waterfront in the Puget Sound. Preferably, it would be one on Bainbridge Island, on the eastern shore so that I could have a view of the Seattle skyline. I have been to the area many times over the years, and like the water, the ocean. About the rain, I came from a rainy country, and do not mind it. I could imagine myself looking out the glass wall, seeing the Space Needle across the bay, sipping my coffee or Cognac. Life could not be better.

Now, I still do not have enough money for such a home and its upkeep, even if I am to sell both of my homes here in the SW. And then, my children and my extended family are all here. My children specifically did not look for out-of-state jobs to stay in town, so how do I abandon them?

But I will keep my screen name as that's what people know me by. And I am still "NW bound" every so often, if only in an RV trek.

I'm sure that if you kept your avatar for a time you could morph your screen name into just about anything. You could also put a little ditty as your signature to explain things for awhile. I'm thinking maybe ... SW-Found. :cool:

Not saying you should change, just that it's doable. Just ask W2R. :)
 
No, perhaps subconsciously I have not given up my dream. In fact, I initially entertained the thought of selling my high-country 2nd home to upgrade to that Puget Sound home as a 2nd home. And if the market is in a secular bull market, then I may be able to afford a small home there after all. I will need a lot of money though, seeing how much money I already spent on the 2nd home here for maintenance, which is nowhere as expensive, and the hassle is also minimal as the two homes are only a 2-1/2 hr drive apart.

Besides, I like the NW-Bound name. It's so like me. :)

PS. Here's a home with the desired view. Asking price for this 1BR-1BA 1,800 sq.ft. home: $1.2M.

PPS. And here's a bigger 5,000-sq.ft. home so visitors do not have to sleep on air mattress on the floor. Asking price: $2.1M. No way I will have that kind of money. Money is nice, if you spend it right.
