It's funny joke Thursday! - 2021

Seems to be a trend here denigrating women (dumb blond jokes) and ethnic minorities. I realize the mods don't want to be the politically correct police, but I think this trend reflects poorly on the forum as a whole.

I think in most jokes make fun of some type of person or group or profession.
Feel free to add PC jokes

:) The adult stuff can be a little "touchy" sometimes (IMO) but what is posted here is usually pretty mild.

Just my 2¢ worth... My opinions are not necessarily the opinions of early-retirement.org.

I feel that this site, and especially this joke forum is for people of the generation that grew up when things could be funny and people did not get offended at the drop of a hat and you didn't have to worry about hurting someone's feelings 50 times a day.

If you're so worried about someone getting offended, maybe have the first page of the thread edited with a disclaimer about adult humor - read at your
own risk.

If you are personally offended, find boring jokes elsewhere.

Personally I love this thread. Keep the jokes coming!

Bring back the the Borscht Belt...oh, wait....

I would amend the above for 70s kid,
4) Saturday was chores day for us.
6) Telephones were “party line” connection. You had to pick up and listen to see if any of your neighbors was using the shared line. This one I still can’t believe we had phones line li,e that. Crazy

I know a lot of people with your attitude, even family. Lots of jokes about queers, stupid minorities, dumb women, idiot foreigners. But why say anything? Just go along to get along. It ain't hurting nobody. Don't be a killjoy, it is only a joke. But I wasn't raised to look the other way and promoting these ugly stereotypes does have real consequences on individuals and on society in general.

So, I'm not so much offended as disgusted. If you want to participate in perpetuating denigration, that's your right. As for me, silence is implied agreement and I do not agree.

We had a party line until I was about 10 years old... The lady that we shared the line with, was in sales.... Phone was always busy.

I was born in England, went to Australia as a teen, and came to Canada 56 years ago next week.....I've told jokes about (among others) Brits, Ockers, and Canucks, (and Yarpies, 'cause I've also known South Africans).....my oldest friend, of close to 54 years now, was born in an internment camp for Japanese in British Columbia - I've had Jewish friends, black friends, Chinese friends, gay/lesbian friends...yadda, yadda, yadda.

I used to tell a lot of jokes when I was in a different environment, (not so much now since it's just DW and me 'cause she's heard most of them)...they were jokes...they weren't attacks on anyone and I'm sorry if you feel slighted....but I'm afraid that you're just not that special.

Added: When I went back to school I had a part time job loading freight cars.....the vast majority of my coworkers were 'Newfies' (from Newfoundland)...they'd tell each other Newfie jokes.

Oh..and above I neglected to mention the Irish...the Irish and the Scots, (and the Germans, and the....), probably have more jokes told about them (and by them) than anyone except the Jews.....jokes told by Jewish comedians for Jewish audiences.

I'm not a pilot...But, I'll take a guess... Prop blade on backwards or someone left their bag on the engine? Maybe? If not, heck if I know.

The engine cylinder halfway through the cowling is a clue that all is not well in the engine compartment.

That looked like a bag sitting there to me... But a protruding cylinder would be a hint something is wrong.:)

:LOL: Poker players are always looking for a "sign". (The tell)

That's the last of my newest cache of jokes that I can post for now.

In the spirit of Nemo's comments:

Told to me by a Jew, in Israel, during an "animated" negotiation.

You know what you get with 3 Jews in the room? 4 opinions.

Most people understand this as a joke.

And, by the way, the joke teller was on the side of the arguing parties.

I don't feel special but I have come to realize there is a connection between telling jokes about dumb women and my daughter getting harassed at work because it is "just a joke" or jokes about Asians and seeing them get shoved down and kicked in the face or gunned down because they are second class citizens. Words have consequences and if you don't recognize that, you eventually will when you see it with your own eyes, in your own family or in your own experience.

Do you really believe there's a direct connection between boors and humor? In my, albeit limited, experience the sort 'harassers' of which you speak are generally the brunt of jokes themselves because they're too stupid understand the difference between fun and intimidation.

What's that old expression, correlation is not causation? One does not necessarily beget the other.

To try to pull this sub-thread of the conversation back to the jokes - It was good that the lady was in sales, where at least the other end often hangs up quickly, and wasn't running one of the "99 cents a minute" operations. On the other hand, perhaps the 10 year old boy could have learned something for free

Yes, please let's get back to the jokes.... Unfortunately, I'll all out at the moment. Pickins of good material has been getting slim.

And of course, even as a 10 year old, I would have never listen to someone else's phone calls.

Unfortunately, the joke thread has gone downhill lately for a number of reasons, and complaints about it have skyrocketed. Post reports, PMs to moderators, and even comments in the thread have risen to the point that they need to be addressed. The moderator team has discussed the situation and decided to close this thread and start a new funny joke thread with a format we believe will address the concerns. The new thread can be found using the link below:
