NFL: 2018 Season

Yet, I'm the first to say letting Gould go was a terrible move and even worse if he is available and the Bears don't get him back.

I hope that the Bears get Gould back, but it’s almost for certain that Parkey won’t be on the Bears next season.

Parkey has angered coach Nagy with comments he made on a tv interview. And the whole city is making a mockery of the missed field goal. Goose Island Brewery had a contest outside of their brewery where a bunch of people tried their luck at kicking a 43 yard field goal.

Yeah, looks like Parkey's days are numbered, especially now after the comments on TV (I actually haven't watched as been too busy no need to revisit the boinking off the FG bars).

I thought that it had been determined that the missed field goal was tipped. True?

If so, to be fair should one blame the line as the kick was plenty high enough under normal circumstances.

Now that doesn't excuse the other numerous post hits this season.

Yes, officially, kicked was ruled a tip/block and not a miss. He split the uprights on previous 3 kicks and the last one, the tip may have altered the trajectory just enough to boink off the left upright and crossbar.

Can't make this stuff up .

I guess all water under the bridge now as the NFL season moves on at the Eagles have their own heartbreaking loss to deal with.

The life of an NFL kicker is what have you done for me lately. I compare that to a closer in baseball. His numbers this season was just bad missing a total of close to a dozen kicks.

Agree about blaming the line and give credit to the Eagles. They called a time out (the one where Parkey make a good practice kick), then the defender shifting over about 6 inches before the next snap, then made the tip.

How about that young cat that shut down Alabama! The next GOAT?

I dunno. Similar thought has crossed my mind since he was a true freshman, but there have been way too many college superstar QBs that flamed out in the NFL for me to get very excited about it.

Weather report for Sunday just got a lot better, teens at kickoff with a light easterly breeze. Looks like the talking heads will have to work another story line.

What a difference a referee's call makes... they may need police escort out of the Superdome.

Rams screeched out the win against the Saints by hitting a 57 yard field goal... wow !! insane !

The Saints were robbed, but it happens and that won’t be the last time. The refs have a tough job, but that didn’t look like a tough call?

Go Pats!

Yeah, I didn’t have a vested interest in who won or lost.....good game to watch.....but New Orleans definitely got screwed on that call.

Pats vs. Chiefs coming up. Should be a good one to watch on a freezing Sunday evening in IL :) :)

That was a tough one. It's a shame a good game comes down to a no call. I was pulling for the Saints but the Rams played well in a tough environment.

Actually it was no two calls because there was also helmet to Helmet contact. That was the most egregious refereeing I've seen in the playoffs on many years

There were a number of no calls early in the game that could have gone against the Saints so it all evened out.

I got to say that was the worst non-call that I ever remember seeing. The Saints got screwed. I wasn't rooting for either team but that non-call at such a critical point in the game really spoiled the game for me.

Exceptionally bad calls (or no call in this case) will probably result in another rule change allowing anything to be challenged. An entire season lost due to that one missed call.

Yes, all the replay rules were designed to prevent the refs from being the deciding factor in the games. Since that is what happened today we can only hope for some mitigating actions from the league for the future.
