Quick Asus eee review

They are hot sellers.
I made a mistake before - I'm running the basic program - Linix base and it works fine.
I didn't add any additional memory yet.
I have 1gig free of the 4 gig that comes with it.
I might have to get additional memory for the podcasts I like to listen to while traveling.
I might want to get additional memory to store my photos while traveling.
Microcenter has a 8gig USB stick for about $30
Micro Center Online - the center of .computer shopping

Because of the amount of ram, I disabled the swap files which freed up 1 gig on the HD.

Thanks for the link there is a lot of good info there.

I think thats based on this
Intel unveils new Classmate PCs - Yahoo! News

as the EEE was based on the original Classmate spec and reference design. Asus will have something similar, and the price points should be around $500-600 for the higher end stuff. Units based on the new Atom cpu will be around in the fourth quarter. About twice the horsepower in a smaller, cooler, lower power draw package.

I imagine this might submarine the prices on the existing Asus units since they just "Osborned" their 4 and 8GB line, which cost almost as much yet have a smaller screen and less power.

Some people never learn...
