I would think that anything that is just a straight USB device, and doesn't require a special driver to be installed, would work with any OS that supports USB. I've plugged in all sorts of USB devices into Windows, Mac OSX and the old OS9 and Linux, and they all work just fine.
The USB spec itself includes support for many basic (and not so basic) functions, and that is why so many of these USB devices are plug-and-play across various systems. I tend to avoid anything that required a special driver, but that is not always possible. Any special driver has the chance of 'breaking' with an OS upgrade.
