Here is a new PETA ad that points out some little known advantages of veganism.

PETA seems to have more respect for animals than women.

Is going vegan bad for your brain? That's a really stupid ad. For it to be effective at all (regardless of the tastelessness), there would have to at least be some background that going vegan improves your performance in that area. I've never heard that, never heard even a hint of that (maybe it's a pop culture thing that I missed? I doubt it.) So it's just plain stupid.

The guy could at least go get and lug his own veggies back to the house, instead of making his injured 'girlfriend' make the trip.

A really touching sentiment for Valentines Day.

I didn't think I could dislike the self-righteous PETA preachers more than I already did, I generally just try to ignore them. They had to work pretty hard at it. Idiots.

Wouldn't that defeat the intent of the ad? With the look on her face, I was surprised that she didn't start shoving the vegetables down his throat.

On the local news yesterday, they had the results of a survey that noted that some where around 5% of the women polled were interested in sex on Valentine's Day while the vast majority just wanted a day off to relax (no looking after the kids, no cooking, no cleaning, etc).

I'm not sure what the intent of the ad is, other than to convince any undecideds just how stupid PETA is.

But if going vegan makes you so strong and virile, couldn't you carry some groceries? That's what I was thinking.

That's probably what they meant to get across, but with the neck brace and all, that is getting into promoting abuse. A lot sicker than raising animals for slaughter, IMO.

Hopefully people will see this ad and realize that PETA is totally out of touch with reality.

IIRC, in "The Omnivore's Dilemma", they say that 100% vegetarianism won't work on a large scale. You need animals in the loop to provide the manure for the crops, to graze on un-tillable land, etc - it's all part of nature's cycle.

I used to live in an area that was really popular with weekend bicycle tourers. I lived near a top of a long hill. Some guy would come flying by in his Euro-style spandex, and albout 5 minutes later some poor woman would be struggling and panting to the top. Usually the guy will have noticed that his woman is nowhere nearby, so he waits.

I would think, man, you need to reassess your priorities. If you want any tonight, let that pretty woman be in front, idiot.

But then, gung-ho bicyclists have never been high on my list of the socially smoothest people.
