Our electric charges just went up from 4.8 cents a kWh to 7.3 cents.

So, what are you paying for natural gas and electric?

No heating or A/C here in sw PA. Electric 10.3 c/KWH, all charges included. Just bought 450 gal heating oil $3.70 /gal. That is the amount of oil we used last winter. Now on to getting the furnace cleaned. Chimney is swept.

Hah. Its been over 100 here a couple of times in the past two weeks, and in the mid to upper 90's the rest of the time. We're finally getting a little break...maybe in the upper 80's.

I probably wont be turning the heat on until sometime in late november, and then just a bit at night and in the morning.

Our electric is a lot more expensive than all y'alls...IIRC we're around 16-18c at the top end. Yay for deregulation coupled with scumbag utility companies!!

I guess we should feel lucky for paying so little for electric so long. The wonders of hydro power and the wonders of having the iron ore mines pay such a large share of the bill.

Ya, we still don't know how much for natural gas. Last year our budget plan was just short of $400 a month. In August we had to pay an extra thousand to catch up. This is heating for a four unit building.

Still running the A/C down here in AL. Right now we are paying 8 c/kWH but rates will be going up 20% in October to about 9.6 c/KWH. We heat and cool using electricity only (heat pump). Winter months are usually the most expensive for us, and with that large increase in electric rates looming, we'll make better use of our fireplace this year.

Oh, and when I looked at my bill to see what the rate was, I realized it was $116 this month, not $162. My bad. The rate is 10.3 cents. Electric Cooperative.

We're all electric and used an average of 69 kwh/day during the last year; 2099/month. That makes for about $0.067 per kwh average cost for us. If you add in the Service Availability Charge it puts it at $0.074 per kwh average. We're on a cooperative in Missouri. It went up by about 11% in May of this year.

Proposed increase to 10.2 cents per kwh, no ac ever necessary (designed for passive cooling), heat with propane (own tank).. 75% full.

I just locked at a dollar amount of $137/month for the next 12 months of electricity usage. Won't go up at all unless usage is more than 20% more than last years average for 3 months in a row. I'm sure next year it will lock much higher.

As for Gas i pay on a floating average monthly payment of $109/mo

So about $250 for the both total each month.

On my last bill the math worked out to 6.82 cents per kwh for electric. I didn't use any natural gas last month (I only use it for central forced air heat), so my natural gas bill was just the $2.50 for the monthly user fee.

My electric level pay amount is $31.00 per month and my gas level pay amount is $55.00 per month. That's for an ordinary 1,758 sqft house in Boise, Idaho and a frugal consumer.

Last bill at about 18 per KWH... and the air is running all day long...

Last bill was $380+...

Don't know about gas... but in the summer we use so little it is only about $20 or so dollars... cooking, hot water and dryer...

Having just moved to MD from Northern VA I've been trying to track the electric charges. We're getting charged 14 cents/kw now, up from about 7.5 when we were in VA. Daggone [-]communists[/-] [-]socialists[/-] [-]democrats[/-] meddling busybodies. Everything we have runs on electric except the stove, fireplace, and generator, which are propane. We use very little propane.

Luckily we have geothermal hvac, and a heat recovery system that gives us free hot water whenever we are in the cooling (a/c) cycle. This saves us a bunch of money. Unluckily, we have a large home so we're still spending a lot more than we used to. I turn the a/c up way high upstairs whenever we don't have guests so that helps. But it's a major cost.

I budget $50 a month for gas and electric combined. Last month, the actual total was $35. It tends higher in the colder months; I don't use AC (except a couple days a year when I have guests over who request it), but I do heat my place to a toasty 65 degrees during the winter.

I have to keep reminding myself, as I run the numbers for upgrading to a bigger place, that those costs are likely to skyrocket when I move.

I heat with oil, and already prebought. Course, it was when oil was 120+ a barrel... DOOH! Utility costs are very high up here in NH.

My electric averages $195. mo. thats with pool and spa up and running.

We cook, dry clothes and back up wood stove heat with propane. On cold nights I will put in a couple oak logs (over plenty of coals) and close the dampers - the central heat will usually kick on around 5am - then when get up - stoke the fire up - and house is good for the day. Most of our wood is harvested off our property=sweat equity.
I have not figured out exactly how much propane we use - but on a yearly basis - my guess is around $90-110 per mo.
PS I am not ready to let go of summer!
But, I will enjoy the new ski season.....we need to slow down this time train...
