My exit interview is Monday.

After a strange couple of weeks I finally was informed on June 4th that June 5th was my last work day.
As I post this on June 6th I suppose I’m pretty much retired!
My exit interview is Monday.
It doesn’t seem real yet!
I am pretty happy, all things considered....

Well,
I didn’t get to retire exactly as planned.
Originally was going to be on vacation this month and be officially retired July 6th.
The company offered an enhanced retirement package to entice more to leave. Since I took the enhancement my last day was Friday June 5th.
I am now officially official!!

The world keeps changing around this pandemic. We're learning more and more every day and still don't seem to be a whole lot closer to knowing how this all ends. But, I'm hopeful our brilliant scientists will figure this out and the world will find some level of normalcy.

On a brighter note, Your LIST update is here! We have lots of updates (i.e. December's getting busy! ) and several additions to the 2020 Class, so please welcome them aboard the train!

I'm not officially on the list because I didn't think I would retire in 2020 at the age of 41, but due to the Covid-19 outbreak, I was forced to move back to the U.S. with my family in Feb of 2020. I resigned from my job as I couldn't manage the Asia operations of the company while sitting in the U.S.

We moved to PA, and live comfortably off our rental income that we purchased out of Florida in 2009 and 2010. I have two young daughters and our family of 4 are very happy we made the move. I will never work a full time job again. I hated the corp world and all of the politics and fake personalities. I'll dabble in Real estate investing as I sold much of my portfolio in Feb right before we moved.

5 work days (nights actually) to go....get off June 24th morning... then vacation until August 1 retirement date! I plan to have fireworks and a "smash the alarm clock" event!

OK, my original date was end of May, 2020. Then with the pandemic, I delayed that
through the end of the year (likely plan).
Now, my gut is saying September! I have emotionally convinced myself now.

So, will talk with a few folks first but, at this point it is September (early/late?).


I'd rather not retire into the Winter season. Plus, my BS bucket is overflowing.
I could last until end of the year I bet but, I would be mostly sleep walking through the last few months … not thinking I need the money that badly.

OK, update. Ran the numbers and talked with wife, and a few money savvy folks.
Target date is Sept 4 (Friday) as last day. Plan to give 1 months notice which means giving notice beginning of August! I am pumped!!

Now, to crunch through the last few months.
Working is heating up, along with the stress right now. I am just not into the fighting fires anymore.

11 work weeks left!

I am sure I overlooked something, but having been on this path since 2015, I can’t be anymore ready than I am. Cars, houses, insurance, accounts, informing people, making plans, getting rid of work clothes - buying more active wear, you name it, I think I have it covered.

In my opinion, overlooking something(s) is to be expected. The future is an unknown. Stocks may climb. Stocks may fall. All you can do is build some contingencies into your plan and hope for the best.

I still need to clear my closet and get rid of all those nasty w*rk clothes. Thanks for the reminder!

School ended last Friday and I got my estimated retirement benefits statement today. So I guess this is really happening!

I would be a bit happier if my side gigs were not being a travel agent and renting a vacation property but we'll be fine. It won't hit me until the fall when school starts, but WOW!
