I am getting ready to open our Emigrant Direct savings account.  Our existing checking account that I want to "link to" (and "fund")  the Emigrant Direct account charges $15 for each electronic transfer (in or out).  Is this the norm?

Are you sure the charge doesn't just apply to wire transfers? Most electronic transfers, incuding those to and from Emigrant Direct, are via ACH (Automated Clearing House) and I have never heard of a bank charging for an ACH transaction.

I called them again, REWahoo, and our current checking account will NOT charge for ACH transactions.    I must have worded it incorrectly whan I called the first time.
