I hate to blow Uncle Micks cover but if you want to understand the frugality of the proverbial Norwegian wife/widow then just see the movie "I Remember Momma". I couldn"t help thinking of Uncle Mick as I watched how these frugal immigrants lived in the early 1900s in San Francisco. Its all there to see, you can get the movie from Netflix after I return my copy.

That's affirm.

The trigger was an old newspaper financial article in the old PacNW( ?1960's). The live ones that fit the bill were Mrs Wright(Andersen) and Stevensen. AND the one on FInn Hill road between Tukwila and Kent(whom I never actually met) - was - you guessed it - probably really a Finn.

But it's the principle of the thing that really matters.

And yes - I Remember Mama - also.

heh heh heh heh heh heh heh

BTY - The local Scots lived up to frugal also - at least the ones I knew. Don't know about the stock part though.

I remember "I Remember Mama", however, not as a movie, but as a weekly serial show back in the 50s. Those sure were the good old days when life seemed much simpler.
