Thanks. Ten years ago I didn't know how far off the prize was, but I knew what it was. We've just needed to keep on living below our means and saving until we got there.

It's helped to hear all the success stories along the journey!

So when was I supposed to feel guilty about retiring at 60? I thought I'd be on the young end of the spectrum and looking at all of the dates I see that I'm in the oldest 10%. Holy cow!
 
Four weeks ago today was my last day at work. I feel so much better. I'm sleeping better. I've lost about 3 pounds. I've tackled many things on my to do list. We have a trip to London in a couple of weeks. Life is good.

Retirement Party is tonight. Last day is tomorrow. Golf on Saturday. Seems like a plan to me. Age 46
 
Just now clocked out and logged off for my last time. 36 years with megacorp, the last 4 telecomuting from home. Eerily quiet departure - no in-person goodbyes, no awkward gestures, just a mouse-click and I'm done. Think DW and I will go eat Mexican and toast my freedom with a margarita. Now What shall I do tomorrow?

I gave notice today. Planned last day is May 27. Age 54. I had slightly cold feet on the way to work this morning but now it feels pretty good. Bet it will feel even better 29 days from now!

Somehow my DH's date got omitted from the list in an update a couple of pages back, and it also looks to me like some other dates may have been omitted. I'll leave it to other posters to confirm though -- beyond my bandwidth to crosscheck all the posts in 21 pages of entries...

I've suspended my job search and am currently back in China trying to sort out some paperwork so that we can put our apartment on the market. If we can get it listed and sold quickly, then most likely we can consider ourselves FIREd and will not need to be looking for work any time soon. Fingers crossed that we can declare 2015/16 our official FIRE dates before the end of the year!

I was just informed that there is a "surprise" retirement party for me tonight. Last week I knew something was up. I asked my wife if grilled pork was good for tonight, She said "nope', we are going out. That's when 2+2 became 4.
The only question is "is this a party celebrating my departure" for my staff? :)
