Well, I made the move to Orcas Island! However, we over spent and the company gave permission to telecommute "part time" (32 hours a week). I kind of need the money, so we're pushed off back into the class of 2017. View attachment 24511

I retired in June, wanting to move back from overseas and enjoy the 2016 summer in the northern hemisphere. Well, that was a bit of a miscalculation. While we have enjoyed a number of short trips, we have spent most of the summer completing repairs on our house and then receiving and deciding what to do with the 565 boxes and crates of stuff that we had in storage and overseas. So while I've enjoyed parts of retirement so far, there has been a lot of work and a lot of stress trying to get our lives and home back up and running in the US. I should have retired in February if I wanted to enjoy a free summer in the US!InTheSticks said:Hey others that have retired in 2016, how's it going?

I've been out of the rat race for over 5 months. I'm loving it. I don't know how I had time to work.
Started my new life July 1st. Just made my goal of retiring by 50 by 1 month! Glad to be a member of the class of 2016!
Sorry about the surprise, but welcome.Hi, just joined 2016 Class today (downsized from Megacorp)... mixed feelings because it was really abrupt but overall a positive because DW and I have been oreparing to FIRE for years. Love this site, admit to living vicariously through the various posts for several years. Hope to keep learning from all of you!
FilQ, congratulations! Yes, today is the next day you'll remember so very clearly!
